FAQs

Here are some of our most asked questions, please do get in touch if you have any queries or would like to talk through how I can help you.

  • The truth is that acupuncture is a deeply relaxing and powerful treatment modality. It has a dynamic role in calming the central nervous system, taking us from a state of ‘fight or flight’ (where the body is almost permanently on high alert) to a calmer more fluid ‘rest and digest’ space, where the body heals.

Acupuncture is part of the Traditional Medicine of China and was developed over 2,500 years ago. It is a medicine that has stood the test of time and many of the treatments are used in many therapeutic fields today. In recent years, there has been an increase in Western Medical research that supports the therapeutic effects of acupuncture. Many of these conditions can be seen on the NICE guidelines.

  • This is a common misconception, acupuncture needles are extremely thin and most people do not feel them at all. Some sensations can be felt when the needle connects with the point, and people describe feelings in the area such as a gentle buzzing or warmth.

  • It is best to wear loose, comfortable clothing to your appointment, as you may be asked to roll up your sleeves or trouser legs. You may be asked to remove an article of clothing so you may prefer to bring a drape or towel, or one can be provided for you.

  • Acupuncture is a powerful treatment modality. Please eat a meal a few hours before your appointment and try to allow time afterwards to relax and let the treatment take effect. It is best not to exercise after your appointment and try not to have other therapeutic treatments on the same day.

  • We operate a 24h cancellation policy, you will be charged for your appointment if you cancel with late notice, unless you have extenuating circumstances. Contact us with any queries.
